Main Suite: ORC Bath and Bedroom Reveal!
We have reached reveal day! It’s week 8 of the One Room Challenge and let me tell you, it flew. Big thank you to Linda, the ORC team and Better Homes and Gardens for continuing to host this event despite the challenges 2020 has brought, it’s been a doozy.
This project has been the biggest DIY we have ever undertaken and after 6 months worth of design planning, organizing and finally the actual process of completing it I’m thrilled to share the final spaces with you!

The plan & before’s, DIY vanity makeover and pulls, floor tile and install, pink marble and zellige tile, copper shower pan, waterproof a shower and install zellige tile, water closet makeover, patterned wood floor installation, pink marble fireplace, copper tub and fixtures
And now for the fun part, the pics!
Looking in from the doorway is the vanity at a massive almost 11 ft long. Of course I had to have a touch of whimsy and my hubs is a big Harry Potter fan so when I found the Mirror of Erised at PB Teen I had to give them a go. I love the height, the way they define each sink area and the spire design picks up on the fixture opposite them. (peep it in the reflection!)
The top of the mirror has an enscription: “I show not your face but your hearts desire” in reverse. Kinda funky right?!
The sconces from Sazerac Stitches are brass and copper, the 2 metals that I mixed throughout this space. The linear yet simple design was the perfect accent.
The brass gooseneck faucets were found on Etsy.
We used walnut to make small beams for the ceiling which brings warmth balancing out the metals and all of the black and white.
The pulls are copper plumbing parts, I just spray painted the handle piece a pale pink to tie into the marble!
At the far end of the vanity is the teensy water closet. Clocking in at an impressive 3×5 space I opted to bring a punch of fun in with a vibrant print from Milton and King.
We also tore out the existing swing door and created a slider using a salvage antique door. SO much more functional!

On the ceiling we have the Sparta flushmount that’s the little bro to the mac daddy Sparta peeping through the doorway! It’s funky and bold and perfect.

Just next to the water closet is the new shower! A walk in with floor to ceiling glass panels keep it streamlined letting the Zellige tile from Riad tile shine. I carried it around the corner and ended with a raw brick pattern to add interest.
My kids thought I was crazy to put plants in the shower. “Mom it’s a shower plants don’t go there!”
You can really see the beauty of the handmade Zellige tile that plays so well with the copper shower pan. It’s such a unique element that has brings so much depth to the shower. And get a look-see at that floor tile! Marble and brass mosaic glorious-ness from Jeffrey Court Inc.

This is your view looking out from the shower, it feels like I’m dreaming.
That floor is the stunning Carve Mosaic Gold tile
One more of the shower straight on to show the Exposed Thermostatic Shower systems from Witt and Berg. Solid brass these babies are the perfect contrast/compliment to the copper shower pan.
Next to the shower is the copper and enamel bath paired with a brass faucet both from Witt and Berg. These float next to the Zellige tiled fireplace and in front of a Norwegian Rose marble focal wall. There’s that mac daddy Sparta fixture!

The Norwegian Rose marble frames the copper bath and mirrors the marble used directly opposite on the vanity wall. Of course plants because I have to have plants.
I haven’t used it yet, I’m afraid of making it messy haha.
Here you can see how the shower and bath areas flow together. There used to be a big closet in the middle and with it gone, the space is SO much bigger and much more functional.
The sparkle from the brass accents in the floor tile, the brass fixtures, the polished copper bath, the antique-d copper shower pan. This bathroom is a dream come true.
As we were working on the bathroom it became very apparent that the bedroom needed some attention to get up to par. So we added it to the project relatively last minute planning new flooring, painting trim, doors and ceiling, a mural and a new fireplace. As for furnishings I worked with what I had minus just a couple of new additions being the 2 nighstands, the light fixture and the little white table.
The view from the bathroom looking out, we have this gorgeous mural from A New Wall that brings the black from the bathroom out into the bedroom while the colors give me a base to play with. If you’ve followed me awhile you know that I: a. change things regularly and b. have to have some bold color.
I dug through my home stash in the basement and brought out this vintage Moroccan rug.
Such a great spot for coffee. And how about that floor?! The Oak Palazzo from Kährs flooring give such a unique and grand feel to the room.
That little white table is actually an outdoor side table!
That fixture was a $50 FB marketplace find, glass and brass with a funky factor it was the piece I didn’t know I needed.
An old flea market find, I can’t get over the mustard on the bench with the pink wall color.
The trim used to be that icky honey colored stain. Painting it all the same color as the walls made it feel fresh and sophisticated. We also painted all of the doors the same color. Fun fact, the drapes being almost the same color as the paint was completely by accident. I actually custom mixed this color myself using 2 paint colors I already had, once it was on the walls we realized it was almost identical.
The nightstands are a fun mix of cane fronts and light colored wood. They are simple but really functional with 3 drawers and brass pulls.
Every bedroom needs a big glamorous mirror in my book.

Standing in front of the mirror looking out, the fireplace stands as a focal point now clad in the same Norwegian Rose marble as the bathroom walls. We had just enough left over from the bathroom to complete this project, talk about lucky!
The ceiling is reclaimed wood but was originally a mix of dark wood tones. We painted it the same color white as the bathroom which gave it an antique feel.
The fireplace is see through into the bathroom, remember the Zellige tile fireplace above? This is the opposite side. Before it had a boring brown tile border. Now it has dimension and with the addition of the walnut asymmetrical floating ledge it really has it’s moment.
And circling back around with the bathroom on the right, I spy that glorious tile and a peep into the shower.
