What To Do With The Vintage Beast? What Do You Think?
I took a bit of time off to recharge the ole noggin and bod after the big ORC reveal. And then what happened? Of course I got bored and had to do the sofa shuffle.
Our oldest son was finagled into helping me one afternoon by convincing him it would be a good workout for getting in shape for football season. It’s all about reverse psychology folks.  As we hauled the u sectional up to the family room, another sectional down to the basement hang out and 2 others into different rooms boy was it a workout. And yes I have a lot of sofas as my fam likes to remind me haha.
I also have another waiting in the wings, I snagged a Ligne Roset Togo off of FB marketplace a couple of months ago for almost nothing. Literally best day ever! The downside, it’s in really rough shape with all kinds of bad patching and holes. It desperately needs to be reupholstered and while I found an amazing upholsterer that has experience with Ligne Roset they are booked up for the next couple of months. So it’s currently being stashed until we can get it in and get her all beautified.

I’ll share more on the Togo later once it gets it’s new lease on life! But the vintage U sectional….
This sofa is a beast and I LOVE it. But there is one big problem with it and I’ve been struggling with what to do since we lugged it home in a Uhaul trailer. (read the origin story of this beauty here)
The current look in the fam room. I decided to try a pattern on pattern look this go round.
The pattern, which coincidentally I love, is bold. It’s bold and gorgeous and retro but it is really tough to design around. I’ve tried a few different looks using rugs I already have to figure out what looks best with it.
I layered 2 black and white patterned rugs here which I really like but it doesn’t have enough color for me. Plus I’m currently using the top rug in our master bedroom. (see that here)
 The pros of this sofa: I LOVE the shape, I LOVE the size, it’s extremely comfy and the fabric is in incredible condition. Here I tried layering my pink Beni on top of the black and white. A little bit more color but just doesn’t quite fit the bill.
The sofa pattern has an orange-ish color, black, tan, ice-y blue and pink.
Here is how it was being used before I brought it back up (the first pic above). We had put it down in the kids hangout space in the basement. And I kept it simple with just the one black and white. It looks good but still meh.
She’s been livin down here the last 8 months.
Ok so on to the dilemma.
Do I:
A. Have this beauty reupholstered in a solid which would dramatically change the options to design around?
B. Keep the upholstery and after the Togo is cleaned up somehow muster up the emotional difficulty to sell it?
C. Keep searching for the perfect rug to go with the bold pattern?
The upholstery is in great shape so I hate to change it plus it’s such a cool pattern. But dang if I can’t get it to feel quite right yet.
So what do you think? Do I continue the search for the perfect rug? Do I start saving for reupholstery? Am I better off chilling on it until the Togo is done and then figure it out?

By the way… see that small blue rug peeking out behind the sofa in one of your pics?! Love it with blue! I always love everything you do and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

July 9, 2020I think you have tried your best and you should sell. Even tho you love the pattern and the sofa, it’s time to let someone Else love the sofa. Even tho you love the pattern, it doesn’t seem to fit in with your style And color energy.
