Hollyhocks Wallpaper Bar Makeover

Our bar has been a regularly changing spot for several years thanks to a panel I made and upholstered for the front. (peep that project here)

This was SO easy to do and it gave me tons of flexibility to change out the fabrics.

After changing the wallpaper on the kitchen ceiling a couple of months go (see that here) I became obsessed with the idea to use the leftover wallpaper on the bar front.

So that’s what I did!  This was so incredibly simple and fast, I got it done in under 30 minutes.

First step was pulling down the panel.

You can see a kantha quilt upholstered on top of the fabric.

Next up was lining up the pattern with the strips I had leftover and get them organized.  Then it was as simple as applying paste and slappin it up on the cabinet.

I didn’t need to apply paste to the cabinet front like I recommend on walls/ceiling as the cabinet is super smooth so you don’t need the extra adhesive.

In just a few minutes I was left with this.

Halfway through trimming the bottom up, I felt like some trim painted the same pink as the cabinets would be a perfect finishing touch.

We dug out a piece of 1/4 inch round (leftover from our bedroom project) that was a perfect fit.

I put 2 coats on it for a solid even finish.

After applying a couple of finishing nails to the trim we put it all back together!

That touch of pink at the bottom acts almost like a frame.

We reinstalled this brass footrail I found on facebook marketplace with a few screws.

I love the mixing of metals action in this shot.

I sold my other yellow stools in favor of these old soda fountain stools.  The backless look (although much less comfortable) really lets the wallpaper pop.

The yellow seats still bring a lovely warmth.

The bar top is reclaimed wood planks we DIY installed back when we did our kitchen renovation.

The disco planters were actually thrifted vases.  I cut the holes larger to fit plants!

The lighting is from Stray Dogs Design and I adore them, they go so well with the wallpaper.

I love the way this turned out and how it ties into the kitchen.  It’s bold enough to stand on its own though and it gives me so many color options to choose from with flowers, accessories, etc.

As a bonus if I ever did want to do something different…I still have the upholstered panel 😉
