Do I have a treat for you! Today is the day for some serious holiday inspo! I have teamed up with 15 seriously talented bloggers to share with you how we bling, trim and ho ho ho our houses for the holidays! So get comfy and cozy and grab a cup of cocoa (or spiked egg nog) and settle in for a lovely tour of tis the season decor.
First up is my decking the halls lil tour. (or 16th depending on where you start in which case WELCOME!) You would think I’m a big seasonal decor doe’r but spoiler alert….I’m not! (way to much work…cause I’m lazy… shhhh keep it on the down low) Christmas time is the only decor I do it up for, it’s my favorite holiday/season.
So without further ado….
Our family room. Annnndddd we have 2 trees. Sweet and practical story ahead, we normally buy one big tree but this year the hubs is out of commission due to a knee surgery that requires non weight bearing status for 4 weeks. This meant that it was up to me and our almost 14 year old to haul the tree in and get it all set up on our own. Maybe you can guess, but we opted for a smaller tree. This one tops out at 9 ft with the top branch. On our way out the kids spotted the second tree which we are lovingly calling “Chuck” for our Charlie Brown tree. He was so sad and the kids were convinced he wouldn’t have a home for Christmas, so he came home with us. Thus we have 2 trees. I think he shined up quite nicely myself.
A nice shot of “Terrence” our big 9 footer. We use a mix of standard bulb ornaments and homemade. Color coordinated trees are gorgeous but here, it’s all about the love. The kids put on all the ornaments (although I go back after they are in bed and spread them out a bit, cause clumps need I say more?) themselves.
You may notice this room also looks completely different, it is. We had to completely rearrange in here to fit both Chuck and Terrence. Daybed moved to the garage temporarily while I brought my Mom’s Oasis sofa up here and some cool leather chairs that our lil boys butts fit perfectly in for lounging. This took several hours between my son and myself, still nursing my aching back. The things we do for Christmas trees, amiright?!
A few of my pretty decorative faux trees, I just recently bought the pink one. Because it’s pink….I think that says it all. The hubs just laughed at me, sometimes they just don’t understand.
You can really see those leather chairs with the chess set. This is your view walking through the family room to the kitchen. At night when the fire is on and the lights from the trees are glowing, ahh it’s the best ambiance.
Oh hello Chuck and Terrence, you 2 are looking mighty fine!
We have 6 stockings lovingly made by my aunt for each of us. They hang with distinction on the fireplace around Mr. Elephant. And I recently picked up that pretty wreath with the pink bulbs, because it’s pink. (me grinning from ear to ear)
Our boys chess game left unfinished. Since I set it here they have been playing pretty nonstop, which is awesome. Plus it just looks good, extra bonus!
Opposite the trees is my pink sofa and behind it I have a few decorations. I am sensing a slightly disturbing obsession with pink…..
Our 2 nutcrackers the kids LOVE to play with and some sparkle trees. I just kept it simple over here.
From this angle you can see the entry, dining room and bar area. Next up we’ll visit the entry.
Kept it simple here too! Copper bells on the door handle with a few pretty decor items on the ottoman.
Along with pink, I have an obsession with trees!!!! See a tree, bring it home!
This is right above the entry, my faux diy garland to go along with our faux ‘tlers. I think they’re looking quite festive!
The dining room table ALWAYS gets a pretty tablescape for Christmas. This year I picked up a fresh garland from Costco cut and draped it around the table…
Then I added some red votive candles…….
And a pretty floral centerpiece to finish it off! Looks beautiful and smells ahhhmazing. Quick, cheap and pretty, what more can you ask for?!
A little mood action for ya, isn’t it so Christmas-y in here? Along with our Department 56 collection in the background that my MIL has gifted us with over the years.
The kitchen is our last stop. I busted out our deer plate and platter, you know, cookies! More of my collection of trees and some fresh red roses. In the background you can see the wreath I hung up!
I used a suction cup hook to hang this metallic shiny lovely and it adds just the right amount of ta da!
Although it may be considered a fire hazard. But I swear I’m keeping my eyes REALLY peeled.
And back to the family room. That concludes the holiday tour of the main areas of our home that we (and by we I mostly mean me) fa la la la’d like notin else. The fam is loving the 2 trees so maybe we’ll make the Charlie Brown tree a tradition every year. What do you think?
Do you do a real or faux tree? One or 2 or more? I always love to hear from you!
