A Thrifted Serpentine Sofa + Color = Magic ✨

Now that we’re on the verge of summer, all of the bold and bright colors are in full swing.  Of course this means I had to do a little swap-a-roo and it was inspired by this new-to-me FBM find.

It has this fabulous curvy shape with a scalloped back.  Can you possibly imagine a more perfect pairing of shapes?!   And it’s the most glorious shade of blue that ties into every space.  Can you believe I almost didn’t snag it?

I saw it on FBM but hesitated because well, I am the couch hoarder.  My hub’s response, “another couch?”  Which is totally fair. 🫣 So I sat on it for an hour but couldn’t stop thinking about it.  Of course when I checked back it was already Pending pickup, leaving me with regret.

I decided to watch it just in case, even though it went so fast I was sure she had a list of folks that waiting.

A few days passed and it was still marked “pending” so I figured I would send a message letting her know I was very interested if the other person fell through.

2 days later she sent a message letting all interested parties know that the pickup fell through and first come first serve, she needed it gone that day.

It took me all of 10 minutes to figure out when I could get there to pick it up and how much I could do.  I sent a message with my offer and pickup details which she accepted!  The fact that I offered a 50% deposit right away so she knew we were coming and had an exact plan/time when we would be there made the difference.

**TIP:  If there’s something you really want offer a 50% deposit via venmo and a solid pickup plan with date and time.  You are likely to get the item over someone who doesn’t.

She’s in amazing condition with all tufting in tact.

We arrived right on time and it was mine.  The only issue was a missing leg, (which we discovered when we got home) and it was really dirty.  Luckily I was able to use my little Bissell cleaner and everything came out, good as new.

What’s crazy is it feels smaller than all of my other furniture I’ve had in here but it’s actually huge and easily seats 6.  The whole space feels very open and inviting with really great traffic flow.

The other pieces in here are items I already had and just swapped in.  The green chairs were stashed after I replaced them with the pink in the bedroom. (see that here)

Peep that column next to the green chair?  It’s made of alabaster and lights up, I recently DIY’d those and have a post coming up!

The views to my art on either side of the room are wide open and fabulously visible now.  One of my absolute favorites, the newspaper portrait piece, paired with my bejeweled mannequin presents such a strong feminine vibe.

On the flip side the stone sideboard provides extra storage and anchors the window wall.  Its also a perfect base for my bold art from my friend Daniel Freaker.  The cabinet is flanked by my thrifted rattan palm tree and DIY bookshelf grandfather clock (peep that project here).

I also swapped out the artwork for a more bold piece to tie into the rug and pillows, but kept my fave ant sculptures up for drama and whimsy.

They are so quirky and unexpected.

All freshened up and ready for summer!  Dare I say this might be my favorite configuration, possibly tied with the white sofas.  It’s a tough call, regardless I’m absolutely in love with this set up and totally believe this sofa was meant to be with me. ❤️
