A Thrifted Sofa for the Win!

You never know when things will come along that just seem so perfect for you.  That always happens to be the case for me with sofas.  I have a sofa problem, yes I can admit it.  There are just so many fabulous styles and colors that I can’t stick to one forever.

Which brings me to this beauty.

The color immediately got me plus the fact that it’s a modular.  I’ve always wanted a modular to play around with.  Why?  Since each seat is an individual piece this allows you to set it up in multiple different ways.  And what better option for someone like me who gets antsy amiright?!

It’s got delivery tags noting that it’s from the 70’s (yay for vintage goodness!), super cool little tabs that hold the seat cushions in place and looks like a Milo Baughman, although the brand labels are missing.  I ended up being second in line for it so I thought I missed out but the fates were on my side.  I had listed the blue sectional (in previous FB tips post!) for sale that same day and had a buyer on the way when I got a message the first person didn’t work out so it was mine!

A little coordination on pickup and it was home.

We have the whole piece together for now but I love that I can set it up as individual sofas or chairs, etc down the road.  It gives so many options for layout.

I swapped out rugs for a more moody vibe.  Busted out a piece of the Togo for additional seating on the other side and its oh so comfy to sit in.

The coffee table action is a personal fave.  I thrifted an incredible travertine table a few years ago, it consists of these 4 bases that hold a large piece of travertine.  One of my children broke the top 😭  Yet I adore the design so I took a glass top from a different table I have and voila.

I needed a larger table to fit the space of the sectional but I didn’t want anything clunky and covering up the beautiful rug design.  So this combo was the perfect solution.

To the right is one of my absolute favorite pieces I own.  An art piece I snagged from a thrift store in Denver and I enjoy every single day.  Notice how the lip color ties in to the new sofa?!

The art is flanked by 2 ceramic arm molds I picked up thrifting on vacation last year and 2 vintage thrifted stools.  The arms were the perfect plant hangers!

The opposite side shows the Togo with an egg blanket that my daughter made for me.  It’s so cozy to snuggle up with.

A whole collection of my vintage finds is displayed behind it along with the martini lamp on the side table.

A beautiful glass mosaic art piece now hangs above the fireplace (yes its dusty) and brings all of the colors together.

The sectional was the inspiration for the changes.  Very retro mob wives meets crazy lady with a twist of modern.  Or as I like to call it eclectic with a little bit of everything.

One thing that’s always been really important for us is to have lots of comfortable seating.  Which in our house we have differing opinions on what “comfortable” is.  I’m short so I prefer a sofa with more structure and back support whereas I have tall people like my son (6’4) who likes deep and cushy as does my husband (6′).

So its hard to find a good compromise that everyone is happy with.

Given that we are a family of 6 we need lots of seats for butts and to be able to stretch out a bit.  This new sofa is the best of both worlds.

So we’re loving it! (for now) 😉

PS Almost everything in the space was thrifted!  Via Facebook marketplace, thrift stores and estate sales. (exclusions are pillows, candle, rug and bear art)
