A Lil (or a lot) Late but Christmas Decor has Arrived!

So I’m super late in the game this year.  Like so many I just couldn’t wrap my head around it being Christmas combined with the craziness 2020 has brought it just kind of snuck up on me.  I was completely unprepared and super slow to get my butt moving!

But I’m finally sharing the festive feels I spread around the house.  And of course, our main area to get the holiday decor treatment is our family room.  Every year we do a real tree but this year we opted for an artificial.

We did this for a few reasons.  1. I always hated the idea of throwing away a real tree that had been cut down.  Our city recycles them into mulch for landscaping use but it still just bothered me.  2. Cost.  Real trees, especially big ones have gotten so expensive that it just didn’t make sense from a budget standpoint.

The disco ball has twinkle lights on it too, but I forgot to turn them on for the pics argh.

It’s a 12 foot artificial that we purchased off of Amazon.  It had great reviews and as much as I was hesitant I’m pretty happy with it!

It did take a few hours to open each section and floof each branch, not gonna lie.

Looking out from the kitchen you can see a peep of the big garland I drape across the catwalk railing.

I also swapped out the art above the tv for something with a more magical feel.  It’s a piece I’ve had forever from my girl MC at Copper Corners.  She also painted the zebra piece you see here.

Francis the Flamingo has his very own wreath. I made it last year and it’s special just for him to join in the festive spirit.

We put the lights on the tree in the dark, yes you can see the strings.  Oh well, next year we will get them to lay up in there much better.  Shh it’s our secret you can see them, but it does annoy me haha.

The tree totally passes for a real tree.  It’s really well made and I expect it to last us many years. Here’s the link for the one we bought in case you are in the market.

The whole shebang from the kitchen perspective.

Here’s my pink tree!  I love this tree so much.  It makes me so happy when we bust it out each year.  I’m still trying to figure out a way to keep out all year without being a super weirdo.

Swapped rugs with the office for a full on floral forest feel with some crazy gold thingamajigs.

Another change this year, I usually do the fresh garland from Costco, I mean $17.99 for 25 ft come on right?!  Well this year, our Costco didn’t have any in stock but they got in a bunch of these faux garlands.  Ugh not my year.

But I’m happy to say that even though they are a bit short (9ft strands with each arch having 2) I’m happy with them.  Pre-lit with pinecones and a variety of greenery they look pretty real and save me the hassle of trying to figure out lighting.

These were the Kirkland brand and I think $37.99 for each 9ft piece if I remember right. Hopefully I’m more with it next year and I’ll probably get a few poinsettias to plop at the bottom and add some more color.

I always like to wrap the fresh greenery around our bed too.  So I gave it a go with some of the faux.  I think I like the hanging bits of the fresh better here but this still does the trick, plus twinkle lights.

This is about as far as I go with decorating bedrooms for the holidays.

That’s the tour!  I feel like I keep it simple but it always takes 2 days to put up and take down.  And I always have to rearrange the furniture so I don’t exactly make it easier on myself.
