A New Year Means New Projects & New Hopes

Howdy do!!  I took some time off the last several weeks to spend time with my family, do some self care and to really try to enjoy the holidays.  We spent a significant amount of time playing games including blackjack.  Yes, we play blackjack on our kitchen counter and even have tournaments.

The last one the winner got to pick a t-shirt online (and it was our 8 year old haha)  Plus it’s a great way to practice basic adding for the younger ones!

Fun fact: My husband was a blackjack dealer in college.  Although I mostly do the dealing now as he really likes to play.

 Of course also eating all the Christmas cookies (yikes) and snuggling up watching movies.

Lots of self care in the form of soaking in the bath, reading, and indulging in (mostly bad) scary movies.  Scary movies are my fave and I most often watch them alone, I’m the only one in the house that enjoys them!  But I plan to do more of these things regularly, I’m really learning the value self care brings.

I love to look out the window, we’ve been having birds flit about those branches lately!

Of course our annual family pic in front of the Christmas tree…we are really bad at serious photos.  This is a much more accurate representation of how goofy our family is.

Me sipping coffee, Aila on the tablet playing Among Us and the boys all pretending they are their superhero outfits in an epic battle.  Basically regular life in these parts.

And of course having fun with the Christmas presents, these 2 got lots of football stuff and actually sat watching tv with these helmets on.

As the New Year rolled around I sang a big sayonara to 2020, I mean who wasn’t ready for it to be over right?!  And I began to contemplate what I wanted to focus on for the year.  I’m not a believer in resolutions but rather overall long term goals.  Less pressure.

Alas the events of the 6th occurred to neither shock nor surprise for me but rather overwhelming disappointment, sadness and fury.  I am deeply trying to maintain some hope for the future that things can move on to a more positive place in this country.

Here I sit as I have already put things in motion over the last month for some changes.  I am working to move the shop to this site and give it a bit of a fresh look!  Plus I have tons of items I need to get photographed and listed as my available inventory is dwindling quite low.   (Watch for an updated post in a few weeks with fresh products and a much more streamlined shopping experience.)

I’ve got some big ideas for some projects that I’ve been brainstorming the last 10 years and it seems like the right time to really dig in to at least 1 or 2 of them.  I’m talking a laundry/mud room makeover floor to ceiling with cabinetry, flooring the works.  Installing an actual railing installation for our upper stairs and catwalk, we just have these ridiculously ugly half wall “railings” now so it would be a big change for the better.  And MAYBE, if I can make it work, another DIY bathroom reno.

I’m also super stoked to see what the year brings for continued work with Edesign clients, I so enjoy the process of working with folks on their homes.  And last year was such fun as I had the opportunity to do rooms ranging from home offices to a game room, to bedrooms and family rooms.  So I’m really looking forward to more projects in that area too!
