Why Move Your Furniture Around

If you’ve followed me for a bit you know I am always moving my furniture round, and every once in awhile there’s a “new” to me piece.  Whelp today I’m answering why that is and how I do it!

Valid Reasons to Move your Furniture Around:

The very basic answer as to why is that there are SO many great styles and eras of furniture, I simply just can’t resist.  I mean anything vintage with a great shape, color, unusual look, etc.   It’s like they call to me with their siren song (except it doesn’t kill me, other than my back).  My mind swirls with the possibilities of how fun it would be to style or how much better it might work in a certain space.

This amazing vintage sofa has made the rounds in just about every room in our house.  Between you and me, it will be available in the shop soon, more to come on the deets!

And it’s not just sofas.  It’s chairs, tables and rugs too.  I just have this creative need to challenge myself to see the spaces and pieces I live with every day in a new way.   And it seems to be around every 45 days or so, according to my husband who has been keeping track over the years.

The same photo as above with this insanely cool 80’s sectional.  I LOVED this piece, it came from a tiny consignment shop in Denver.  I eventually decided I needed to pass it on and it now lives in Canada!

This couch was SO comfy and incredibly well made, a crazy good piece.

 What do I do with all of this furniture?  Where do I keep it all?  I actually have them all in use in other rooms.  I just rotate them A LOT.

So how do I move it all?  Well it’s me and depending on who’s available to help, either my 17 year old son or my husband.  If they are both around it sure makes it a lot easier and faster!  They move the big stuff I haul around the smaller stuff or tables, etc.  It’s definitely a family effort.  Think of it as quality family time with some exercise. : )

Here is another set up, the sofa on the right in this pic is from the 70’s (for reals it’s got it’s original label!) and it is so good.  It’s another one that is going to be available soon.

I also let some of them go after a time of enjoying them.  Given I’m always looking to add great vintage pieces to the shop, it only makes sense to add some of these amazing larger pieces too.

This room gets it’s fair share of rotations.  This is just one of many different looks over the years.  But that coffee table was another fave of mine.  I decided to part with it and it went to a fantastic local follower, which is the best thing ever!

I can’t help but be attracted to the unique and unusual, it’s so much more interesting!

As I had decided to add the vintage blue chesterfield and the white curved Kagan sectional (both above) to the shop, we had moved them into storage to keep them oh so nice for whoever may become their new owners.  That left us with an empty fam space in the basement.

As luck would have it this 60’s Schoonbeck sectional with checked wool upholstery popped up on FB marketplace.  Of course, it’s unique shape immediately called out to me.  It’s similar to the 80’s u sectional above but smaller and more conducive to being able to use it in multiple spaces.  In short, it’s a better fit!

For now we are using it in here while the TOGO is hangin in the downstairs fam room. I’m sure in the not too distant future the TOGO will be back in here.

 In short, I have all the heart eyes for the vintage, the weird and the unusual.  I just can’t help my love of furniture and the joy I get from them.

I will be doing a big drop in the shop soon including lots of incredible vintage pieces like Curtis Jere wall sculptures (I have 2!), colorful glassware and yes some furniture.  Stay tuned for all the goodies!
