Fresh Look in the Basement Living Room
It’s been awhile since I shared this space! As I always get questions from folks wondering “where the blazes do the sofas go when you swap them?” I thought it would be a good time to show you our basement living room again.
This is our basement. When we gave this room it’s first makeover it looked like this. We did the stained concrete floor, fiber panel wall, painted, and of course all my faffing styling.

The floor has turned more green from daily use and abuse. In all honesty it’s probably filthy but we’ll keep that between you and me mkay?! (Now I have a need to go down and scrub it and see if it turns blue again haha)
Basement Living Room Refresh
Whichever couch has been moved out of the upstairs fam room comes to hang out down here. I swap between the 2 spaces.
Here’s looking out. The door on the right is the powder bath and the door on the left is the media room (click here to see that space!)  We also took all my extra art and made a big gallery wall where the Scrabble board used to be. It’s a mix of my kids art, prints and paintings.
The gallery wall really highlights the ceiling height and brings in some pop.
This a space where my kids bring their friends to hang out. Or the boys (including the hubs) come down to play video games or watch boy shows while us girls watch good movies upstairs.
The white sectional fits perfectly. Previously we had the Togo in here, so we just swapped them around.
We also moved my heirloom piano down here last summer, which we’re never moving again. And the little bar in the back is great for their drinks and snacks. A couple of peeps can sit there and still be a part of the Mario kart action.
Comfy seating is a must amiright?!
The short answer to the “where are all the sofas you use?” is everywhere! I have a sofa in my office, one in the kids school room, the Togo in the fam room, the white sectional down here and 2 stashed in the unfinished side of the basement for listing in the shop.
When you see a whole new look, if I didn’t mention it being a new to me piece, it came from somewhere else in the house. I should make a workout video featuring my furniture rotations. It’s full of squatting, lifting and lunging haha. Although my back is sore for like 3 days after so obvs I don’t use correct form, maybe a video is a bad idea.
I hope that sheds some light on my furniture situation. And I should totally give a shoutout to my hubs and son. Of course I rope them in to help me, which one it is depends on who’s lucky enough (or unlucky enough if you ask them) to be around at the time. This last round was my son and myself. But to my great fortune his bestie walked over to hang out that morning. And yes I totally gave his bud the option of not helping but he was a good sport and stepped right up. When I pointed this out to my son he said “yeah mom, because he doesn’t have to do it all the time ugh grumble grumble”.
