Fresh off the heels of finishing the One Room Challenge, I have another space that we’ve been working on! Our little boys bedroom. A hot mess of a sitch and the only room left with the original paint from when we moved in. (They loved the blue paint so I left it)
I have 2 little boys in here and while this room is pretty big, it felt small. They had so much stuff from toy trunks to a big dresser to beds and a hot mess of everything on the floor everywhere. It needed organizing, paring down, donating and throwing away.
Here’s what it looked like when we started..
Drawers hangin open and everything…this is real life right here.
We had gone with a sports feel in here and it’s been that way for the almost 8 years we’ve lived in this house. It was definitely time for a change and I couldn’t wait to get rid of these blue walls. (Blue is my fave color but this room needed a major pick me up)
Show of hands, who’s kids leave their bed like this? Both of my hands are raised haha.
We had just moved the beds to this wall to test out the flow, these actually bunk up too. We have had them bunked, most recently we took them apart when my oldest switched rooms with the youngest. (see the teen boy room here!)
We really liked them here so I based my design plan around this layout.
Yikes, this is just embarrassing….
Here’s the view opposite the beds, to the left is the entry into the room and to the right is a jack and jill bath.
Here’s the plan:
- Paint the walls and the ceiling
- Install peel and stick wallpaper mural
- Super fun DIY project for the corner
- Bring in furniture
- Dress beds and Reveal!
Annnd that’s where I’mma leave ya for now! Coming up next I share the paint colors I chose, the epically cool peel and stick wall mural, and a super fun and insanely easy DIY project our boys LOVE!
Tell me how much of a mess your kids rooms are, it will make me feel better! hahaha Do you find kids rooms to be difficult to design or easy? What’s your approach?
I always love to hear from ya so hit me up in the comments below.
