An Eclectic Twist-mas! A Holiday Mix of Traditional with a Twist

It is officially the Christmas/Holiday season and I FINALLY got my decor up!  We ran into all kinds of snaffoos so it’s a bit later than usual this year but it’s done and I’m loving it.

I don’t typically do seasonal decor but Christmas is the one exception.  I like to to do a mix of traditional and fun, so come join me and scroll down for a tour of how I do it.

The main fam space always gets 2 trees..(see the look last year here!).  We choose one mac daddy family tree and then one small Charlie Brown that my kids choose and want to make sure will have a home for Christmas.

This year the Mac daddy tree is our biggest yet coming in (we think) at 14 ft tall!

We have this village of Dept 56 pieces that my MIL has been giving us every Christmas since we got married, 18 years of pieces and we have quite the little North Pole setup!  It’s also one of the kids favorite things to see every year.

We’ve got a skating rink, train station, radio tower, hot cocoa shop, bakery, post office and more!

These 2 trees get a combination of simple ornaments and homemade gems.  I don’t decorate with anything too fancy, this is more of the traditional route.  Simple with lights, a topper and the ornaments made with love.

I’ve got handprints from when my babies were small, cue the mama crocodile tears.

Here’s a twist!  My pink tree that I SO adore.  I scored this lovely last year from At Home.

My 2 littles decorated it this year (minus the flowers that I popped in after they finished) and they were SO proud. and did such a great job!

It sits in our entry (which is very large) and it makes me smile every time I look at it.  You can see it from the entire main level.  A fun shot of color with some serious oomph.

Of course I have LOTS of fresh garland, I’m obsessed.  I buy it at Costco for $17.99 and one goes a long way.

Heading back towards the kitchen I popped a couple of glitter trees, 2 nutcrackers and a pink garland on the bar area.

The kids LOVE the nutcrackers, they play with them on the regular.

I debated on stashing Francis the Flamingo for the holiday decor and then decided he should be a part of the festivities!  So we made a quick and easy ornament wreath which I promptly draped on his lovely neck.

I didn’t do too much in the kitchen, but here’s a shot showing you a couple of touches.  And another of the dapper Francis because he’s just too cute.

You can see I popped a small wreath on the mirror over the range, some greenery in a vase on the island and a pink garland draped on the light fixtures!

Every angle has something to make your eye smile or at least that’s the goal!

And the other space that gets a bit of sprucing is our bedroom.  Remember I said I was obsessed with greenery?

I swapped the suzani for another and wrapped the greenery around the canopy.

Truthfully this is one of the things I look forward to the most.

All the heart eyes for this greenery!  I wish I could keep it up all year long.

And back to where we started!

I keep the lights on the trees all day long until they come down.  I also love to burn candles throughout the evening and turn the fire on.  All the cozy and festive feels please!
