Where Do You Find Your Rugs? + Tips to Look for When Shopping for One!
As we’re in the throes of our DIY master bathroom renovation and I can’t share much here yet (although I’m working on a little sneak-y peak-y post for you to show some little tidbits!) I wanted to pop in and answer an often asked, almost on the daily, question….Where do you get your rugs?!
I’m not one to leave you hangin soooo here are the sources for some of the most asked about rugs in our house + a few tips and things I look for when choosing rugs!
This is from Loloi Rugs and it’s called Wild Bloom, a collaboration between Loloi and my friend BariJ. I was drawn to this one because of the white background and the pops of beautiful color in the floral pattern. What’s not to love amiright?! TIP! When selecting rugs for your home think about how they would look in other rooms. I always consider whether I would be able to use a rug in another space, this insures I get the most bang for my buck. (see our living room looks of 2019!)

This is another Anthro rug, which I dreamed about forevs. (for reals, see my rug shopping guide here, just forgive the bad photography : ) ) The bold color palette and the abstract feel of the poppies is a dream come true.
TIP! When shopping for rugs and thinking size, always make sure that at least the front legs of all furniture can sit comfortably on the rug. Anything smaller can look a bit off. Here I rode the boundaries a bit, given the large size of the sectional I pushed it right up over the borders of the rug, this way I could accommodate a chair as well. (for reference this is a 9×12)
This set up has 2 rugs, one budget and one handmade Moroccan. The top is a Moroccan which I ADORE and it’s from my friend Charlotte of the Elegant Nomad.
TIP! One of a kind rugs is an absolute fave of mine, they can be an investment so it’s definitely worth it to keep in mind the ability to use them in multiple places. Having said that, they are TOTALLY worth it for the unique and artistan feel they bring into your home.

This is a fluffy squishy Home Goods find and I have used it in just about every room haha. I don’t have a link for this as it was an in store find but check out some online retailers for a similar look. (maybe Overstock!)

Our daughter’s room sports a big bright pink rug from RugsUsa. I had this rug in other spaces prior to this room but it sure belongs here! (Check out more of this room here)
TIP! As I mentioned above you can absolutely mix investment rugs and budget rugs in your home. You definitely don’t need to have only one or the other. Let your budget dictate what you are comfortable spending, trust me there are TONS of great budget options out there.
Here is one of the most popular looks! These 2 rugs have a fan club haha. The top rug is the same as the entry rug above (Home Goods) and the bottom flat weave is from World Market. It’s an indoor/outdoor so I can use it outside too!

This pink luscious beauty is another one of a kind and it’s from my friend Lise at Souks Du Monde. This beauty has been in 3 different spaces so far!
TIP! You can mix pattern rugs with solid color rugs for a customized look.

I am a total-self-aware-rug-obsessed-can’t-stop-won’t-stop hoarder. (My hubs will attest to this haha) Rugs are the easiest way to change up a space. If you don’t change a single other element in a room but swap a rug, it makes a HUGE difference.

April 15, 2020I am absolutely obsessed with rugs myself, but I have a hubs who is very much set in traditional styles and we no longer shop for furniture and/or accessories for the home together. I am trying to redo 3 rooms at once, how crazy silly right!!! I have a very boho, gypsy meets country farmhouse style that just doesn’t jive with his vibe (so boring). How would you go about working my eclectic sense with his nonsense?
I’m really getting a lot of headaches from beating my head against a wall, trying to bring it all together and yet keep the Peace in my house.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you how much I enjoy all of your rooms. You’re style is the best of the best, and right up my alley. But I think you may believe I’m a stalker at this point ?
Is it possible to bring a lighter, brighter look in that will accommodate his no style?

April 21, 2020Linda! Haha stalk away babes xoxo Best advice on meshing 2 styles….maybe sit down with your hubs and Pinterest. See what things he feels ok with, what he hates and what he likes. This can really help give you an idea of where you can strike a compromise on non-personal ground (it’s Pinterest and not your own personal room that you have made beautiful that he is hating on, does that make sense?) I actually do this with mine when I have an outrageous idea but I know it might not go over so well with him! I find photos of something that would be a similar concept (for example a crazy wall mural) and say what do you think of this? If he hates it I don’t take it personally because I didn’t do it yet haha. Then I can just figure out a way to make it more appealing to him, like maybe different colors or a different style of mural. Nature is a big one we both agree on so animals, plants, wood are sprinkled in everywhere. If he is anti-color you could try asking him to just let you do some color pops with pillows or a fun rug, ease him into it a little bit while also bringing in some of his likes. I hope this helps and whatever you do try and have fun with your spaces! If it is feeling hard and stressful think about taking a step back and a day or 2 off from it, that can be a game changer in regards to ideas. xoxox

Your rugs are fab! I found you originally via Pinterest on your layering rugs post. I have been inspired to layer mine and also switch them out. Our family room is large like yours and a 9×12 seems too small. I’ve been inspired by you to layer a 12×15 underneath to create a “larger” space.
You have said in the past that you love to thrift and also love a bargain. Do you wait for sales especially on the Anthropology rugs. I recently missed a 9×12 poppies on Offer Up for $300. I’m still crying!
How and where do you store your rugs when not in use?

June 2, 2020Hey lady!! Layering rugs is definitely a fantastic way to build out a look for a larger space! And I most definitely ALWAYS wait for a sale. I also watch FB marketplace, Etsy and Ebay too. You can find some really great rugs at great prices. Storage, yes! I have an unfinished area in the basement where I stash all of my home stuff when I rotate. That way when I get bored and want to change things up I can just go “shop” down there. xoxo
