What's a Media Room without Epically Comfy Seating?!

Probably one of the most important aspects to a media room is the seating. What good is setting everything up to have a movie marathon if your butt hurts 1/2 way through the first movie amiright?!

Sore butt’s no more

I worked with The Futon Shop on our boys bedroom project for their beds and mattresses. (which you can see here!) And I LOVED the quality, so when I heard they were now making sofas I immediately checked them out.

They don’t just make a standard style sofa but also these awesome super versatile modular sofas that come in a variety of upholstery and filling options.

I absolutely love The Futon Shop. They are made in the US and use organic materials sourced from local farmers who use a chemical free process. This is their organic modular and it is completely customizable from the pieces and orientation to upholstery and filling. but all include a solid wood frame, wrapped with organic wool, latex and coconut coir. We opted for the wool upholstery in Grey to tie into the wood we added to the bumpout (see that here) and lighten up the space. The wool is fabulous as it gets chilly down here (it is a basement after all) so having that extra cozy factor is amazing. This also has the organic fill which gets super plumpy yet firm so it’s the perfect seat for long term (or short) use!

This sofa is a dream and I absolutely love that I can rearrange the pieces if I want too. You know how much I like to rearrange things so that was really important for me!

We’ve had it for a few weeks now and have been testing it so I can give you an honest review. I even had my 6’3 son sleep on it (he wanted to I swear!) and he wasn’t sure at first “is it going to be itchy, I think I’m going to get hot” but the next morning he said “Mom, I slept SO good”. Now when his bestie 2 doors down comes over and hangs out not only do they watch more movies vs video games but they discuss who will get to sleep in here. Although my son never gives it up haha.

We’ve also watched a few movies as a fam and it’s been perfect. Previously the “poop” couches (see this post for an explanation) were super squishy but you always got a sore back and butt within an hour. I have a bad lower back and this has NEVER given me a problem. I have been able to sit and enjoy with my kids without constantly moving around to get more comfortable.

All in all the most important part of a good media room is the seating and folks this has been the absolute best addition. I’m SO relieved that we have finally found the perfect sofa, not only for movie viewing but doubling it up as a bed AND I can rearrange it! What more can you ask for?!
