OK all my parental friends out there, who can relate to this scene? The end of school often involves bringing home all that amazing art they have made and the pile just gets bigger and bigger. What to do with it? I have seen my pile grow and grow but I can’t bear to throw them away! I love their art and the creativity they put into it. And some of it is darn good! I may be a bit biased but what mama isn’t amiright?!
So I decided to hang it front and center in the form of it’s very own gallery wall! We have a hallway that has always had 2 extra large pieces, one on each wall and I knew it would be the perfect spot for it. Once that was decided, next up was sorting through all of the artwork! I ended up starting off with 5 pieces, 3 large and 2 smaller. This will give me a base to build my gallery wall off of and they are statement makers so win win! (click here for more on gallery walls!)
Next up I needed some killer frames to highlight these one of a kind pieces but not your standard frames and I didn’t want to spend big bucks. I discovered an amazing company to help with this, Frame It Easy was the perfect solution.
They are custom made to your specifications, tons of style options and colors along with matting if you want it. AND they are made in the USA. I could go on but def check them out if you have something you want custom framed! And it’s far cheaper than your standard custom framing shops. (you know I’m always looking for quality at a budget!) And it ships right to your door, saving you a few trips to the store, who doesn’t love that?!
After I selected the 5 pieces I wanted to start with I popped on to Frame It Easy and started my order. You know me, big and bold is my usual way and this was of course going to be the same. Especially when my kids make me such beautiful art that is screaming for hot pink! I order my 3 hot pink and 2 black frames (both 93 metal style!) and away we go!
Here’s what the packaging looked like when it arrived. I was very impressed given that there were 5 metal frames in this box, the packaging means no scratching of the frames on each other and the glass was very well protected. And love the good ole made in the USA wrapping!
Check out that pink! Wowza! (They have lots of other colors BTW I just wanted something very pop-y)
They were super easy to take apart. The screws on the bottom loosen and allow you to remove the piece, then you just slide in the matting and art, pop the bottom back on and tighten the screws!
All hardware was included, frames are very well made and the instructions were super easy to understand. My hubs was quite impressed!
Almost ready to hang this one!
Voila! One of a kind art created by my beautiful child looking fabulous in it’s very own custom frame. Repeat these steps 4 times annnddd……
My gallery wall has begun! Doesn’t it look fabulous?! I’m so excited with the way their art pops and it makes this hallway feel so much bigger!
Our bedroom is at the end so every time I walk out I see their pieces in their happy frames and it makes me smile. I am so excited to continue adding to this, I’m already going through more of that mountainous stack you saw above to decide what else I want frame and hang here!
Adding a gallery wall with free art and inexpensive custom frames has made such a difference! And combining it with my vintage shawi rug, wood art niche and antique swish blanket it makes for the perfect balance of contrast, texture and color. Can you tell I’m SUPER excited about this project?!
And dare I say I might even go as far as to swap out all of my Ikea frames for some of these from Frame It Easy. Whaaatttt?! I know right?! But that’s how much I love these! Shop at Frame It Easy with my discount code ECLECTICTWIST for 10% off of your order!!
