2024 Home Trends!

I think this is the first time I’ve been really excited about a “trend”. Truth be told, I’m not much of a trend kind of gal. Of course I hear about them and they can certainly help folks become inspired but I don’t personally watch out for what’s next.

Which is exactly why I’m beyond thrilled that for 2024, everyone is talking about the trend being “untrend” or “niche”, In other words be yourself! Can we just give an audience clap for the design world finally catching up with the idea that our homes are just that, OUR homes.

So let’s talk about how we can make our homes “untrendy”. Experimenting with and using color in any way you see fit is a great way to start. (if you are into color)

Our freshened up living room I set up just after the new year.

In the pic above I’ve got all kinds of color happening from the blue ottomans to the egg blanket to the yellow bar stools and the blue range. (see more of the updated kitchen here)

A bold rug gives me so much opportunity for color options and mixes which I absolutely take advantage of.

How about quirky items?!

Here I’ve got gummy bear art, a vintage ceramic zebra and the edge of a giant toy top.

Don’t take yourself too seriously, it should be fun.

This view carries over so you can see my giant top, a vintage cheetah, one of my ant sculptures and a giant shoe. Weird stuff is the best stuff.

Remember thas long as you love it it fits in.

Along with quirky and weird, try displaying pieces that are sentimental to you. For example this old grandfather clock that I upcycled. (peep that diy project here)

Or this egg blanket that my daughter made for me. I use it every night, not only is it cozy and cute but I absolutely love displaying her handiwork.

I’m so proud of her and how this project ended up.

Its also a perfect time to bust out all of those thrifted/collected treasures. For example, this hand chair was from a consignment shop years ago and this lamp was a recent thrift find.
