La Cornue CornuFe 110 Review 4 years Later

I get so many questions on my LaCornue CornuFe 110 range that I thought I would put together a quick post talking about my thoughts on it!  Everything from is it worth the cost to cooking power and would I buy it again. Scroll down to read more!

We renovated our kitchen 4 years ago (pre-blog, cue sad face) and I general contracted the entire thing.  We also DIY’d a ton of it as this was to keep on a tight budget but still allow me to get the materials and finishes I wanted.  What can I say I’m stubborn and a girl wants what a girl wants amiright?!

The biggest splurge by far was the La Cornue Cornufe 110.  I researched for months for a range that had cooking power and durability but still looked beautiful.  I found that most in the US are big stainless steel behemoths that would swallow up my smaller kitchen.  And frankly I didn’t find stainless steel appealing.

And then I found the cornufe.  I was taken in by it’s European styling, the elegant but very simplistic operations (no big electronic panels or touch buttons) and it’s more petite size. We went to a Williams Sonoma as that was the only place I could physically see one to get a feel for it in real life.  I grabbed a variety of pots and pans to test out the oven sizes and opened and manhandled the doors.  And I left wanting one.

I custom ordered the provence blue color with a copper trim via a local specialty appliance company.  There wasn’t one in the US so it had to be made and shipped over.  I waited 4 months people, it was torture.  But I completely forgot about that wait the moment I laid eyes on her gleaming blue face.  Even the delivery guys said “if you ever move you should take this with you.”

La Cornue CornuFe 110 Review featured by top CO home decor blog, Eclectic Twist

The mirror above the stove has been controversial, haha.  I hear from several how ridiculous this idea is but in all honesty it’s no biggie.  I just grab it, set it on the counter, Windex it, wipe, Windex and wipe ta da clean!

Now 4 years later, I still walk into my kitchen every morning and get a smile on my face from seeing it.  I adore it’s blue color and the copper trim ties in so perfectly with the reclaimed copper hood.

The 5 gas burners on the top have been nothing but a dream.  We primarily use the front left which has plenty of power on it’s own for most cooking.  If I have a large pot of something or my hubs is brewing his beer we use the big middle burner.

The LaCornue CornuFe 110 ovens are incredible.

I have had the best experience with moist meats/roasts and perfect baked goods with this range.  The most awesome Thanksgiving turkey I ever made came from these ovens.  Yes, they are smaller than standard US ovens but I have really found that to be no problem at all.  I’m cooking for a family of 6 so often I make double for leftovers, aka 2 lasagnas, 2 pans of burritos, etc.  Both pans fit in one oven as does a thanksgiving turkey with a side dish.

La Cornue CornuFe 110 Review featured by top CO home decor blog, Eclectic Twist

The front left burner is the most used and the big center one second.  These burners put out a lot of heat, this is no weaksauce cooktop!

I LOVE having the double ovens, which we use a lot.  I will have one thing going in one oven and then have cookies, side dish, etc cooking in the other.  I absolutely recommend two if you are feeding a crowd or do a lot of cooking/baking. One of the ovens has several different cooking modes which are fantastic for everything from roasting meats to keeping warm to let bread rise.

The top is really easy to clean, being one solid piece of stainless steel.  You just remove the grates and wipe away.

I did have one issue, which was that some of the copper was wearing off of the handles of the ovens 2ish years in.  I was rather upset about this and contacted the company.  They sent out new handles and a local certified repair guy came and swapped them out.  So in the end it was no big deal.

Would I buy a LaCornue Cornufe 110 again?  In a heartbeat.

I still absolutely adore it!  It was worth being the biggest expense of the reno and I would suffer that 4 month long wait again.

Questions I didn’t touch on?  I’m happy to answer anything you may be wondering just hit me up in the comments!

Thank you for this review! How do you feel about not having windows to peak in and check on cookies/cakes rising? This is something my kids do all the time. I love the look and am considering going with this instead of a 48″ for the large center burner, dual fuel, bread rising and general gorgeousness!

Hi Angela! It really hasn’t been an issue for me, but the ovens do have light switches so you could turn them on and do a quick peek cracking the open door. I was in the same boat, I was initially leaning toward a 48″ but you can’t beat the beauty of these. I have never had a single issue with the cooking power of this range, it has turned out the best meats, breads, etc I have ever made! If you don’t mind the smaller ovens (which I have found not to be a problem when you get used to it) I really think you will love it!

Where did you get the hood for the oven?

Hi Kelly, it’s a copper hood from a New York pub. I scored it on ebay and had it shipped!

Have you ever used the griddle accessory on top? If so how does it work for you? How is cleaning the oven. I’m really wanting a French oven for the looks but am concerned about functionality. I don’t want to love the looks but be frustrated everyday but it’s limitations? Also iv had a few neck surgeries. They look like the ovens are a big higher than most so you don’t have to bend so low vs saw wolf or Ge monogram… thoughts on this? Thanks so much! In middle of big remodel and I keep coming back to a range C’s wall ovens.

      July 28, 2020

Hi Julie! I actually ordered a grill pan and griddle pan separately that would fit the top. We have used them so much that I need to replace them! I completely understand what you mean, I spent months researching ranges. I too wanted something beautiful but it had to cook like a beast. Granted I’m definitely no chef but my experience with it has been overwhelmingly positive. As far as height of the ovens I’m not sure if they are higher than a Wolf or not, I personally have found it not to be an issue. Of note, I do have lower back problems. I went from wall ovens to this range and I would definitely not go back! I was originally going to go with a Wolf but couldn’t get past the vast stainless steel look and the amount of electronic components (so many things that could break) vs the beauty of the cornufe and the simple but quality build. I have never had a problem with it! Good luck with your remodel and all the best to you!

Hi! I loved reading your reviews! I’m leaning towards the CornuFe 110 but I’m a little concerned with the oven size because we cook and entertain a lot! Will it for a Large/Extra Large cookie sheet?

    • Tina Bousu
      September 28, 2020

Hi Chauntel! The largest cookie sheet that will fit is 17 3/4″ wide by 13″. I haven’t found that be an issue, even though I originally was really worried about it. I’ve been able to make everything I wanted to and if you run out of room in one oven there’s always the other! : )

I’m so happy to see this review! It’s so hard to find info about it online. Trying to decide between this, the aga elite, or the live magestic. But I think you sold me on this one! The only issue is that we live in Vermont—178 miles from the closest dealer/repair. 🙁 Will have to investigate more.

Hi Tina, thanks for your review. I came here because I have the La Cornue Albertine (36″) and I was curious what other people felt about their LaCornue’s. I also absolutely love mine! I actually hardly use the oven because I also have a steam and a regular wall oven but I use the cooktop constantly. The main reason I bought it though is just because it is gorgeous and unique.

Some con’s…the burners are strong!! I’ve got used to them now but I will often use the smallest element for cooking eggs or anything that shouldn’t take a lot of heat.

I also got the Provence blue but with the stainless knobs. I truly wanted the copper but I felt I would never be able to keep them clean. Something that I find really helps is that I will take off each burner cap and use Bar Keeps Friend to polish up the brass on the five elements. The stainless top does scratch quite easily but you can’t see them when the black grates are on.

I would definitely buy it again and I’ve certainly received many compliments! (I tried to add in a picture but I couldn’t figure out how to do it)

Hi Heather! We use bar keepers friend and the soft side of a scrub sponge on the top too. I love the strong burners, it did take some adjustment especially coming from a really old gas cooktop. But my husband brews his own beer so the strong middle burner is perfect for his hobby. We use our ovens constantly and they are my favorite I have ever baked or roasted in. I’m so glad you love yours as much as I do! xoxo

    Hi Angela,
My decorator thinks the 110 might swallow up my whole kitchen. Did you consider the cornice 90? Do you feel the 110 leaves enough counter space?

    • Tina Bousu
      October 13, 2020

Hi Theresa, it depends on how big your kitchen space is. The 110 is 43″ wide whereas the 90 is 35.4″ wide. I would also factor in your needs regarding oven use, (2 vs 1) how much cooktop power/burners you needs, etc. This should help you to decide whether you want the larger 110 or the 90. I cook for a larger family and 2 ovens was a must. I don’t find that it takes over the kitchen at all!

I have your exact ramge – bought from ABT appliance store in Chicago 15 years ago. Was much cheaper (almost 1/3!) than it is now – but still not inexpensive. My only issues w my stove are that the ovens are electric (not the burners, obviously). and therefore they do not self-clean. That is my only issue. Have had absolutely no other problems. For some reason I have an extra set of brass knob ends to the dishtowel-hanging rod that extends across the top front of the stove – both for the same side! And my trim is copper, like yours!

        • Tina Bousu
          July 17, 2025

Hi Betsy, the prices have gone up so much! Mine was cheaper than it is now too. Oh that’s weird, so you have a 2 tone metal trim? I personally love 2 tone but I don’t think it came that way standard, you just got a lovely one of one range.

If you need a repair, is there a problem finding someone to do it? We are thinking about purchasing a CornuFe and wondering about that option. Thank you!

    • Tina Bousu
      February 23, 2021

Hi Rachelle! I was worried about that too. When I was researching mine I was able to find that there was a servicer in my nearest metro area (Denver) so it wouldn’t be a problem. I just checked their website, it looks like you can fill out a service form and they may refer a local servicer to you. They didn’t have that when I bought mine. I would recommend maybe doing some searching for la cornue or la cornue cornufe repair and your area. Typically a company that is certified to work on it will have that included on their site! Having said that I haven’t had any problems other than swapping out a couple of knobs. I hope that helps and best of luck!

Hi there just wondering how you find the fact that you can’t see through into the oven when in use (as opposed to an oven with glass doors). Is this something you just get used to? Thanks!

    • Tina Bousu
      March 8, 2021

Hi Lisa! I thought it might be a problem when I first got it but I really don’t even think about it. The ovens do such a great job that I rarely open to check (only if I’m unsure on cooking time). But I don’t think it really impacts the temps by doing a quick peek as they swing like a door so you can just open it a crack and see if you need to.

    Hello,

Quick question about the range knobs. The only ranges we have been able to visit have been older models and like some reviews have stated, the knobs feel cheap and they wiggle when moved up and down. Other reviews I have found said that this may have been fixed. Do you get much movement when wiggling the knobs?

I’m not sure why this bugs me, but for the price I want it to be rock solid and feel like the quality you are paying for.

    Thanks!

    John

    • Tina Bousu
      March 8, 2021

Hi John, I just went and tested them. The cooktop knobs do jiggle a bit when you try to move them up and down. I don’t feel that the knobs on mine feel cheap at all though. The jiggle seems more to be the way the mechanism that goes into the top from the knobs is constructed vs the knobs themselves. (It’s a rod that sticks out a bit from the range that goes from the knob into the cooktop) I totally get wanting it to be a good investment, this was my biggest expense in our kitchen by far and I spent 6 months researching everything I could to pick the best. I have zero regrets and still love it as much as the day I got it. I honestly don’t feel there are any cheap elements to it at all. In fact I like the simplicity of the make, it’s quality, solid yet simple. As compared to a Wolf for example, they have so many electronic components that always worried me would go out and be costly to fix. Anyway, I hope that helps!

I think I’m sold on a Provence Blue Cornufe 90! It’s not what I initially thought I’d put in our kitchen remodel but I’ve fallen in love. I’m debating the 110 but our kitchen is pretty narrow and it’s not ideal. Thanks so much for your review! Where did you get your brass cranes from?

    • Tina Bousu

Hi!! I have the exact la conrnue range that you have!! I love it! It took a little time to get used to, but I would never get another type of range! I got really lucky and it was in the house that we bought 4 years ago. The paint on one of the doors is bubbling up, do you think the company would have someone that could fix it? I ask only because you mentioned having the brass knobs replaced/repaired. I share your love for this range. It’s beautiful and cooks/bakes everything so wonderfully.

Gaaaahhhhh! I’ve been going from post to post on your house Reno & ORC! Please ignore the drooling.
We’ve been drawing up plans for our dream home. Won’t be shy or coy….. I’m seriously stealing a few ideas!
This range from LaCornue is tooth achingly scrumptious.
Also the ORC is bubbling full out of my head, that British bathtub is what I was trying to describe to my hubs.
This is a first for me; I’m going to give you my real email address. Not the junk spam one that I give EVERYONE else. Please please please don’t give or sell it.
I can’t stand the idea of missing any of your brain droppings! (Which means great ideas btw)
Thank you SO much for having the energy to not only dream up put put down your creative work so that you can inspire others like me. I’ve always had an offbeat boho style and you’re a refreshing change from the cookie cutter ideas I see elsewhere.
Now to continue perusing your gems…

    Hi!

Thank you for your cornufe review! It was very helpful.

I am also considering the 90 or 110, and have two questions:

If I get the double ovens, my current turkey roasting pan will not fit. I normally cook a 22 pound turkey. I don’t know if it might fit in their roasting pan or the double oven. What is the largest turkey you have roasted, and do you have any idea if a 22 pound turkey would fit?

I cook a lot of Italian tomato sauce, and the simmering for a long time is key. My Current Viking stove will not simmer low enough for a covered pot. How do you like the simmer? Is it only low enough on the 6000 btu burner? Is it too high on the other burners?

Thanks so much for your help and input!

    Laura

    • Tina Bousu
      November 2, 2021

Hi Laura, I’ve done 12-15 pound turkeys with no problem at all. I personally love the double ovens especially during the holidays as I cook several things at once. The big burner in the middle is super powerful but does go down quite low. The front right burner is a simmer burner, great for sauces and delicate items like eggs. That might be good for your long and low simmer sauces. Overall I have found the burners to have a really good adjustment of power on them from low to high. I hope that helps!

Hi Tina, I’m getting a La Cornfe110 range and part of remodel is a custom plaster hood. What size is your vent.. I’m only seeing them in standard 42in or 48” and not sure what to get since the range is 43in.

      • Tina Bousu
        July 26, 2022

Hi Julianna, I went with a 48″ vent insert. I actually found the salvaged copper hood on ebay, it measures 60″ wide so I fabricated copper pieces to fit flush inside the hood with the insert. I felt like a bit larger is better visually than a smidge too small. I hope that helps!

Great review!! Question for you: how do you find having the small simmer burner in the front right position in the stove? Usually the small burners are towards the back, but on the cornufe model, it is in the front. Any thoughts?

    • Tina Bousu
      August 30, 2022

Hi Tina, Thanks for sharing your pictures and viewpoint. I am not a big cook so am pretty conflicted on whether to go with the 90 or the 110. Your advice would be much appreciated.

      November 14, 2022

Hi Ana! Happy to share my experiences with it. I’m not a big chef myself although I do enjoy cooking, I’m just a regular mom with a big family to feed. I personally like the double ovens of the 110 which was the primary factor for me going for that model. I do use both quite often which is so handy. If you feel comfortable with 1 oven or don’t think you will really need 2 other than holidays the 90 would be a great option and save you some money. I think it really comes down to your personal uses and preferences, but I’m still so happy with mine and would recommend it. I hope that helps you with your decision!

Thanks for this review! We are considering this range for our kitchen renovation and are wondering what is the max temperature the oven can reach. Thanks!

    • Tina Bousu
      March 29, 2023

Hi Ashley, max temperature on mine is 475. The biggest difference between these ovens and others is that they are EXTREMELY efficient. Most recipes I need to reduce the cook time or it burns/overcooks or reduce the temp from the recipe a bit and keep cook time. I hope that helps and good luck with your renovation!

Hi, thank you for the review, this has been very helpful for us in deciding with which range to go with. I think I am sold on the 110 but just have one question for you – the left oven is listed as a multi-function oven and the right hand oven is a fan oven. I think I’ve ever really only ever used a standard multi-function oven. Can you tell me about the fan oven. Is there anything functionally different when cooking/ baking with it or do you use it just like the other one? Thanks

    • Tina Bousu
      December 19, 2023

Hi John, I use it just like the other one. I know if you are a serious baker or cook that the multifunction can be really useful. I’m just a mom that cooks for her fam every day and use mine primarily the same way. The only difference really for me is the broiling on the left multifunction vs not able to on the right. Otherwise I’m not too fancy 😆 I hope that helps!

    Hello,

I am considering the Cornufe 110 for my kitchen reno. I am wondering if you considered the Lacanche ranges as well. Athat re you able to cook multiple pans in both ovens at once? Also, I noticed the chef from Purcell Murray cooks most things on the lower rack. Do you do that too? Also, did you have a resource that gives reviews? It’s so hard hard to find them on this oven. I can’t figure out why William Sonoma doesn’t have any listed on their website.

    Thank you, Maureen

    • Tina Bousu
      February 28, 2024

Hi, I did look at the Lacanche. Also very beautiful ranges and come in several color options. I honestly feel like it comes down to preference, size and budget. For me at the time the Cornufe was just a little bit cheaper and I could get the copper trim finish which at the time I don’t think Lacanche offered. I do cook multiple pans at once very regularly, the other day I made 3 pizzas in one oven with no problem. I use all rack levels, most often if its one pan I put it on the middle rack but I use all levels and haven’t noticed much of a difference other than slightly more browning on the top rack. I did not have a resource that did reviews, it came down to just online forums of folks talking about their experiences and my own gut instinct. I haven’t regretted it once and we’re several years into owning it. Zero problems, simple and efficient to use and beautiful. Still highly recommend based on my experience.

Hello, thank you for your post on the La Cornue. Our biggest concern is the electric oven so I was glad to read you have good experience with the way it cooks.

It is very difficult to find reviews which are not from paid influencers and I just wanted to double check that this was in fact an over that you bought “out of pocket”. We, like you, love the look of the oven but as this will be going in a fairly remote lake house we cannot have a “lemon ” on our hands. There will be no prayer of getting it serviced

    • Tina Bousu
      March 15, 2024

Hi there! Nope I wasn’t paid for this review or gifted anything. I purchased the range myself during our kitchen renovation. There wasn’t much out there when I bought it for reviews so I thought I would write a couple to share my experience with it in the hopes it might be helpful. I can’t guarantee that you won’t have any issues but I can tell you that I have never had to have it serviced. But if you do need it serviced its one of the more simple ranges to repair given its lack of electrical (tech) components, which is one of the reasons I purchased it. Good luck with your lake house!

where did you get the thermostat gauge you have on the over door?

Hi Derek, the copper timer? That was from Anthropologie but has since broken so I don’t recommend it if they still have it.

I am enamored by this range. Does not having a self cleaning feature bothersome to you?

Hi Pamela, it really doesn’t. The interior ovens are made in panels that are easily removed and scrubbed then pop back in. I don’t find it to be a bother.

How do you clean your ovens? It took 6 hours to figure out how to get the ovens apart and put them back together. It’s been three years since the last cleaning and I know I have to tackle again. Any suggestions?
I love my stove. We remodeled in 2018. So many compliments on our beautiful stove. We have brushed stainless with brass trim.

Hi Patty, Ooo you have a gorgeous color combo for yours! As for cleaning, I’ll be honest I only take out the panels that get stuff on them and wash them. I haven’t done all panels at once, is that bad?! 🫣 I can see how it could get overwhelming taking them apart completely. Maybe do one or 2 pieces at a time, pop them back in and then do the others. Then it doesn’t get confusing on which goes where. If you find a good method that works please share, I would love to hear!

Hi! Checking in after 8 years. How is it holding up?

Hi! It’s great, no issues to speak of!

Hi! So the cooking functions are fantastic, absolutely no issues with the cooktop or ovens. My one complaint is the copper trim, the finish has been wearing off of those. I contacted Cornufe about it and they basically said, tough luck here’s where you can buy some new ones. That was disappointing given the cost of these, and the fact that they stopped offering the copper trim within a year or so of purchasing mine which implies they knew it was an issue.

Hi! Thanks so much for this review! Had you considered the Cornufe 90 size at all? What made you choose the 110? Do you find the smaller oven size to be limiting or does it suit your needs?

Hi! I don’t find the oven size limiting at all. I went with the 110 as I regularly use 2 ovens at the same time. I was worried when I first got it that the oven size would be an adjustment but it really hasn’t been an issue, just getting some appropriately sized cookie sheets!

Hi, how have you found the replacement copper oven knobs to be holding up? Has the issue resurfaced? I have a Cornufe with polished copper trim and have noticed the same issue. I’m currently researching the Chateau 150 with copper trim and have been told by the company that the copper trim is plated over brass, but they’ve “never had a problem” with it.

Hi Abby, I’m so glad you asked about this. I actually recently reached out to La Cornue regarding my copper trim (knobs, end pieces of rail, corner pieces of doors) because it has worn pretty substantially. I know they stopped offering the copper shortly after I got mine, I figured they knew there was a problem hence the change in offerings. Given they are offering it again I can’t speak to the quality of the finish but I can tell you that mine are NOT brass underneath. It’s silver in color, that’s how much wear there is in several areas. When I reached out regarding the issue (admittedly I waited to long in reporting the problem) they basically said “here’s a link where you can buy new ones” Now the fact that I spent a ridiculous amount of money the finish shouldn’t wear off, ever. This is the one area that I am not happy with it. The cooking is fabulous, the enamel is perfect but the trim is very disappointing. It has been 8-9 years since I bought mine so maybe with the gap between when they stopped offering it and then did start offering it again they figured out a better way to do it. But I am very frustrated with how with them on this point.
