I did a thing and I shared it earlier this week but I thought I would give you all the deets on the why, the how and the hubba hubba finished product!
I changed the family room……again. I know, my hubs is keenly aware of my all too often regular furniture moving ways. But I had this idea last week and the next day we gave it a whirl.
It went from looking like this…
Which I totally loved! I just needed a major injection of color ATM.
Comin at ya HOT! Color color and more color!
This is my boho take on a Moroccan/Indian space full of fun and all the happy vibes. The best part? It didn’t cost me a thing! I stole this sofa from the basement when I did the ORC this last spring (see that space here). And the sectional above is down there now.
I wrapped this piece in a Kantha quilt to add more depth and pattern with a global feel.
Of course what Moroccan boho space is complete without loads of pillows to fall into and surround yourself with? We still have a nice chaise/lounge area in this far corner. My hubs uses this vintage camel saddle as a foot rest!
The poufs in the front, they are made from Moroccan rugs. And they serve as a fave lounge spot for my 2 youngest littles.
I used the coffee table from the prior ORC setup and placed it in between the sofa pieces for a different feel and for practicality. By splitting the sectional pieces it breaks up the blue and gives a super cool fresh vibe.
We place drinks here and I use the vintage carnival glass lamp at night for ambiance lighting. (I scored that lamp at a local flea market)
Of course I had to bring my brass wrapped elephant named “Lucky” in here. He just fits right in amiright?
Isn’t he cute?! Another flea market find!
This right here is my fave spot. I take up the whole area by using those pillows and creating the most comfy seat eva. BUT it’s also plenty big enough for snuggles!
You can see I didn’t attach the kantha quilt, it’s draping quite a bit as my littles plop on the floor poufs and kick the big ottoman piece. Argh life with kiddies haha
This is the view looking in from the kitchen. You are very much a part of the action. The low seat back allows for a great sight line and of course, hello blue!
My plant babies are all around the room.
A little overhead action showing the other angle. It feels so cozy and inviting. The rug is from Anthropologie (which I scored during a sale a few months ago) I haven’t shared it much at all as it’s been rotating spaces until it felt just right. But this is a rug I dreamed of FOREVER.
Pattern on pattern on color on color
I feel as transported as I can to the incredible places that inspired this space. We are loving it. Even though my vintage sectional is living in the basement hangout room right now it will most surely make another appearance here at some point.
I was just craving a major color pop with all the boho vibes. And with a little, oh who are we kidding, a lot of work moving furniture and re-styling I think I achieved it. It makes my eyes smile and my heart happy and you can’t ask for more than that.
Floor poufs, camel saddle, kantha quilts, patterns, colors, brass, plants, elephants YES please!
I will definitely do a follow up post sharing what I did with the vintage sectional, I wouldn’t leave you hangin like that. ; )
What do you think? Did we nail the Boho Moroccan fam room look?
I always love to hear from you so hit me up in the comments!
